Always an artist, Zan’s artistic expression took form during five transformative years while she lived aboard her sailboat, navigating the boundless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. This intimate communion with nature, the sea, and its organisms profoundly shaped her early creative vision as a painter and, subsequently, as a sculptor.
Today, Zan continues to draw inspiration from the natural world, as well as the science and biology of her work in women’s health, allowing each piece to be infused with strength, resilience, and inherent beauty.
Zan’s recycled steel sculptures grace esteemed venues such as Newport Beach’s Civic Center Park and the Chicago Sculpture Exhibition. Each piece stands as a testament to her adeptness at transforming complex ideas into simple, elegant beauty, creating works that deeply resonate with viewers. These works elevate the site, creating iconic placemaking that enhances the community.
For Zan, creating sculpture is an intrinsic part of her existence, a profound necessity that defines her very being.
